Agile UX

Agile UX: Leading Design in Fast-Moving Teams

I’ve worked in Agile environments for over a decade, collaborating with cross-functional product teams to deliver thoughtful design at speed. I’m SAFe Scrum Master certified, a multi-project Jira admin, and a UX designer who understands the rhythm of sprints, ceremonies, and story-driven iteration.

From early research to design handoff, I shape UX work that’s lean, communicative, and accountable.

How I Practice Agile UX

Agile design isn’t about “moving faster”—it’s about building the right thing in the right way:

  • Just-enough documentation to empower devs without blocking delivery

  • User validation early and often, even in low-fidelity or hypothesis form

  • Cross-functional alignment through shared ownership of sprint goals

  • Design work that fits sprint cadence, without sacrificing research, quality, or accessibility

Agile & Scrum Experience

Scrum Team Integration

  • Embedded on Agile delivery teams as the sole or lead designer

  • Participated in and lead daily standups, sprint planning, retrospectives, and demos

  • Partnered with PMs, engineers, BAs, and QA to clarify stories, refine acceptance criteria, and anticipate dependencies

SAFe Scrum Certification

  • Certified through Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe), including:

    • Program increment planning (PI)

    • Cross-team dependencies

    • Story mapping and backlog health

  • Applied SAFe principles in enterprise delivery settings across multiple lines of business

Jira Admin & Project Stewardship

  • Served as Jira administrator for multiple teams at different companies

  • Created custom workflows, field schemes, dashboards, and sprint boards

  • Trained non-designers (PMs, developers, researchers) on backlog best practices and story refinement

  • Managed UX work within shared product backlogs while balancing roadmap constraints

Agile DesignOps Leadership

  • Led async rituals for UX work inside sprints

  • Maintained Figma file organization aligned to story structure and delivery

  • Introduced automations and plugins to reduce friction between design and engineering

Agile & Delivery Tools

  • Jira (Cloud & Server) – sprint boards, custom workflows, backlog grooming, reporting

  • ServiceNow, Jira Issue Collectors – bug & feature request collection

  • Confluence, SharePoint – requirements, design handoff documentation, documentation

  • Figma + Jira integration – connected design tickets to dev sprints

  • Miro, FigJam, Mural – design retros, sprint planning exercises

What Makes Me Competitive

  • I’ve led design in true Agile environments, not just "Agile-adjacent" design teams

  • I’m Jira-fluent and comfortable owning the tooling, not just adapting to it

  • I’m a SAFe Certified Scrum Master, and I bring strategic thinking about how UX fits into sprints, releases, and PI planning

  • I speak developer and stakeholder fluently, and build trust across disciplines
